Monday Surgical Traffic violation is costly CLYDE The next time Joe Manzella, Niles, is stopped for speeding in Sandusky County, he might consider posting bond and getting out of the area fast. Manzella was stopped on the Ohio Turnpike early Monday morning, for going 20 miles an hour over the speed limit. That would have cost him $27.50. But before he left the county later in the morning, he had been found guilty not only of speeding, but of resisting arrest and assault on a police officer. His fine was more than $500.

According to police here, Manzella threw a punch at the Ohio State Patrolman who stopped him, which added the resisting charge and increased his bond from $27.50 to $777.50. He was brought in to the Clyde Police Department in handcuffs and became enraged. He hit a State Patrol sergeant before he was subdued and charged, additionally, with assault. That raised his bond to $1.777.50. After he calmed down at the Sandusky County Jail, he was brought back to county court in Clyde where he was found guilty of all three charges, fined $503.50, and escorted out of the county.
